I actually jumped the first time I watch an action movie in sourround. Pretty good with music, really good on movies. The sound is adequete.
wow. It cost me $200 but was ugly, cheap looking, sounded horrible. ALL THIS FOR $300.
This samsung is beautifily paired with my 56" DLP and Stand. Very realistic.Only complaint - No AM Radio. I am extremely happy with the purchase.
I upgraded from a JVC home theater in a box.
I didn't expect it to be quite as good, considering the very small speaker wires included and the general TIB (theater in a box) concept.I'm a little put-off by the use of 3 ohm speakers, which greatly limits the possibility of changing speakers. It's ease of use and lack of complexity over previous Video and DVD players and sound systems has been greatly appreciated. We also have the wireless option for the rear speakers, which makes speaker placement very easy without the need to run the wires from the unit. A quick internet search provided instructions on doing so and we've only had to do it once, so it's not a big deal to us. We've had our HT-X70 TIB for over a year now and I can honestly say I've never really wanted any other product, or been overly disappointed with it's performance, since first hooking it up.I research products very carefully before buying, so this product hasn't presented any big surprises. It was just a little disappointing, if only for just a few moment while searching for a solution.I'd definitely recommend this unit for anyone looking for a relatively inexpensive option for vastly improving your TV and movie watching experience over what comes out of the TV. Gotta love those matching components. The 5 DVD changer has been quite useful and the quality of output exceeds our needs completely. It may not be considered a high end option by many, but it will likely satisfy the needs of all but the most sophisticated audiophiles.I'd also buy it again without hesitation.
Based on our TV watching habits, this hasn't really proven to be an issue, but it might be for others, so be aware. We really do love the way it integrates so seamlessly with our recently purchased Samsung HL61A750 DLP TV, via Samsung's Anynet system. We've had to "reset" our system once when the wireless receiver stopped communicating with the TIB. Worth the extra money in my opinion, but not without it's troubles. Just pop in a DVD and both the TIB and TV turn on and the TV switches autmatically to the proper inputs to receive the DVD signal. What this option does is basically reduce the length of wires run and eliminate the need to run them from the rear of the room back to the unit.
I'll admit to being somewhat surprised by our impression of the quality of sound produced though. You will however, still need to connect the rear speakers to the wireless receiver. It worked well with our previous Toshiba DLP, but didn't automatically interface as it does with the Samsung TV. But, due to the research mentioned before, this was no surprise. What could be easier.
WISH THE MINI-SPEAKERS HAD A MORE SECURE BASE ON WHICH TO REST.FOR THE WIRELESS EFFECT OF THE REAR SPEAKERS HAD TO SHALL OUT ANOTHER $100 TO BUY THE SAMSUNG WIRELESS 'TRANSMITTER'.MY LOGITECH WIRELESS Z5450 COSTS MUCH LESS YET WORKS EXCELLENTLY FOR THE PAST THREE YEARS.COMPARATIVELY, THE SAMSUNG IS NOT BAD OVERALL. I BOUGHT THIS AS A GIFT FOR A FRIEND TO SUPPLIMENT THE SAMSUNG HI DEF LCD TV HE HAS. SOUNDS GREAT.
I plan on mounting small plates to the bottom of some of the speakers and that will solve my problem. My guess is he never set it up and tested it. Who was the engineer that designed the speakers. I wouldn't recommend this only because of the speaker shapes. They would only stand up on a hardwood floor, with no breeze. Great system.
The only "con" I have is something that I saw critiqued earlier. I would put that engineer in the "box" that I put Tech Writers in. It's as advertised. MAYBE. Otherwise, I love the setup. Can't wait to get it set up permanently down in the family room. It's now Jan '09 and I love the system.
God what a mistake.
For $300, I could not be happier with the purchase, plus the shipping was FAST and delivery trouble free. When watching an action movie with explosions and other warfare sound effects, you can FEEL the sound as much as hear it--it's great. The DVD player makes our regular DVDs really come to life with sharp, vivid images. Ordered this to go with a new Samsung 56" LCD DLP also purchased right here. I would not hesitate to use Amazon again---very happy and satisfied with the whole experience. To tell you the truth, I have not used it for anything but DVD playback so I don't know yet what CDs will sound like. Easy hookup plus the remotes are the same for both units. When we built our home 13 years ago, I recessed 4 Bose speakers high in our very large livingroom and have hooked them up to the HT-X70, along with the center channel speaker and the sub woofer.
